WSCRC 38th gala brochure

The Washington State China Relations Council held its 38th anniversary banquet on March 28, again at Bell Harbor International Conference Center. Keynote speaker was retired Admiral Samuel J. Locklear III, 39 years in the Navy, including as Commander of U.S. Pacific Command. The choice was to present a different tone from that of the Trump administration in U.S. policy in Indo-Pacific, according to Nelson Dong, General Counsel to the Council. Former Governor and American Ambassador to China Gary Locke served as moderator for Admiral Locklear. Robert Anderson, founding president of the Council, received the 2018 Sidney Award, following Stan Barer and Robert Kapp in previous years. Other speakers included Yang Yihang, Economic and Commercial Counselor at the Chinese Consulate in San Francisco, Dave Somers, Snohomish County Executive, and representatives from Starbucks and GX Architecture and Design. --Wen Liu 03/29/18
